You Can Make A Difference

A shattered mirror,

Crib in the corner,

Mother walking through the rubble,

A child terrified.

The price of war,

When will we learn?

A child with blood covering them

Like a blanket of death.

The innocent victims of greed.

Power hungry fools!

Rage over powering my soul

How dare they.

Feeble excuses,

They had no right

Where was truth?

You held me in your dreams at night

When I was afraid you soothed me.

You came to my mind every time I was scared

Whispering hope,

Like an angel.

I always felt your Love.

You want me to grow up and tell what happened.

They should never forget what they did.

You touched me with your love.

I am with you.

You crawl into my spirit.

Your beauty caresses my passion,

When you hold me in your arms.

I am filled with tears of joy.

You are my courage,

Filling my days with wonder.

I can find my way through the day knowing

When I sleep you will be there.

In my dreams,

I know you.

I know her,

She reaches into the sacred depths of my thoughts.

Her mind is one with mine.

She is a child of my soul.

I can reach into her thoughts.

She into mine,

Over the distance of time and space.

Her sorrow reaches my heart.

Her being fills the most precious part of me.

Tears flowing like the memories of war.

A tidal wave of excruciating pain.

Witness of unfathomable terror,

Haunting my memory.

She will carry the past for a lifetime,

Never faltering in her memories.

She is a daughter of the universe,

I carry her into my dreams.

Unforgettable for Eternity.

She is only 8 years old.

Coming Home

This story is told about a soldier who was finally coming home from the war. He called his parents from San Francisco.
"Mom and Dad, I'm coming home, but I've a favor to ask. I have a friend I'd like to bring home with me." "Sure," they replied, "we'd love to meet him." "There's something you should know the son continued, "he was hurt pretty badly in the fighting. He stepped on a land mind and lost an arm and a leg. He has nowhere else to go, and I want him to come live with us." "I'm sorry to hear that, son. Maybe we can help him find somewhere to live." "No, Mom and Dad, I want him to live with us." "Son," said the father, "you don't know what you're asking. Someone with such a handicap would be a terrible burden on us. We have our own lives to live, and we can't let something like this interfere with our lives. I think you should just come home and forget about this guy. He'll find a way to live on his own."

At that point, the son hung up the phone. The parents heard nothing more from him. A few days later, however, they received a call from the San Francisco police. Their son had died after falling from a building, they were told. The police believed it was suicide. The grief-stricken parents flew to San Francisco and were taken to the city morgue to identify the body of their son. They recognized him, but to their horror they also discovered something they didn't know, their son had only one arm and one leg.
